Usually we make it a two part video, but with a bit more of a deeper coverage this year, the transfers and the Central displays stand alone in this video.

Diesels & Electric Loop and Shuttle the Inner West | NSW Transport Herit...

Welcome, continuing our coverage of this year's Transport Heritage Expo, we have part 2 how available.

This time we take a look at the other trains that were operating throughout the weekend. ECHR and HETs joined up to operate shuttles to Port Botany and Lavender Bay respectively. 

This is a shorter part compared to the trilogy, but hopefully you'll still enjoy. Some clips will be shared between each video. These clips will also be used if you would like to switch between videos with the cards in the top right hand corner.

Anyways, one more to go, but this will be more of a different video compared to the chase videos, so hopefully you'll still stay tuned.  

Steam Shuttles & Race DOWN the Illawarra Line | NSW Transport Heritage E...

Howdy all,

After a bit of a break, we are back with the next round of videos.

Once again, we were in NSW for the annual Transport Heritage Expo. This year coincides with the 170th anniversary of the NSW railways.

This time, we spend three days covering the expo. Our first video covers the operations on the T4 Illawarra line, with steam shuttles and railmotor shuttles. This year also saw the return of the Great Train Race, which ran from Central to Hurstville.

This year's expo also saw the return of locomotive 3001's operation to the mainline in 26 years.

Anyways, we'll have the rest of the footage released progressively over the next week, so stay tuned.  

Spring Steam Through the Golden Plains | Steamrail - Eureka Express - Se...

Howdy,

First video for the month and we begin by knocking out our last video filmed for September.

We trek out for the last Eureka Express for 2025, behind Hudson R761.

A little bit different this time, as we do the full video without a tripod.

Pretty standard video, but it is quite a long video compared to some of our last videos. So sit back and relax as we hear a Hudson at work to and from Ballarat.

Mikaido Steam Shuttles in Hawksbury | Picnic Train - Richmond Steam Trai...

With spring being back, we roll out another one from Over the Border. We take a short day for the first of two days on the Richmond line to take a look at the Picnic Train's Richmond Steam Train Rides. Three shuttles were run between Richmond and Mulgrave with their flagship locomotive 5917, top and tail with 4836. 

This really is a short video, which sees the train for all three shuttles, then the transfer back to Riverstone, where the train stabled until the next day of operations.

We are trying to keep a balance between Over the Border specials and regular videos over the next few months, subject to operations from the mainline operators.

As our full flexible schedule is still ongoing, it won't be too long until the next video, so catch everyone soon.

AMRA Vic Branch Clubrooms Open Day 2025

G'day,

Hope everyone's going well, just casually pushing through with our more intense than usual scheduling atm while we burn through the last of this September backlog. 

Once again, we are back at AMRA for another annual open day.

This year is a little smaller, now that Murri has left the club, but to supplement that, Maryborough is on display, although not operational.

As usual the two main layouts are in operation throughout the day.

Steam and Runners Pace Through Lakeside | Puffing Billy Running Festival...

Been a little bit since posting here. The last few videos have been published while being offsite, so good to be back to regular publishing. 

Today we are back at Puffing Billy again. This time we head up on the first day of this year's Running Festival to take a look at some of their train operations.

Day one has the shorter races, which are centered around the Emerald Lake Park. Along with this, Puffing Billy still operated its regular four train timetable, with some differences.

7A and 14A took on the pace train for the morning, running as a double header for the whole day, and in top and tail during the Running Festival.

Goulburn Model Railway Exhibition 2025 - Part 3 | Goulburn Model Expo 20...

We're back for our last part covering this year's Goulburn Model Expo. This part covers the last nine layouts seen in the Ross Whitttaker Stadium. Most of these layouts have been previously seen before, but we get a little time to capture them again, in new light hopefully.

Goulburn Model Railway Exhibition 2025 - Part 1 | Goulburn Model Expo 20...

We're back for another set of videos, along with our return to over the border. After the success of last year's inaugural Model Expo, they returned again bigger than ever. This year's Goulburn Model Expo was run on the last weekend of August. Divided over two rooms, 71 exhibitors we present for one of the largest regional shows. 37 of the displays were operational layouts, which will be shown in our first three part video for the year.

Each part has a base of 45 minutes of unedited footage, so stay tuned for the rest which are due over the next week.

A2 & A Class Blasts to Bairnsdale | Steamrail - The Gippslander 2025 | A...

Time for this week's video.

Today we head out for Steamrail's Gippslander for 2025, which saw a day trip behind locomotive A2986. This trip is advertised as one of the last chances of a day trip via heritage train to Bairnsdale with a new timetable due the the next couple of months. 

A2986 and A66 paired up for this tour.

We began in the Toorak area, then complete a chase both ways.

These long distance chase videos are slowly being coming rarer as our priorities shift, so hopefully everyone enjoys.

Steam Rattle and Shuttle the Inner East | Steamrail Charter - Ashburton ...

We are back to our weekly scheduling.

Today we have our view of this year's Ashburton Steam Shuttles. This year, K153 took charge of the train along with the Taits in their five carriage configuration.

This year's video is primarily to fill in the gaps of our video from two years ago, capturing the locations we missed back then, but also redoing some others with the new equipment.

Melbourne Showgrounds Model Railway Exhibition 2025 - Part 1 | Australia...

It's a new month and it's time to begin with a return to our model railway exhibition videos. Today, we have our first of two videos covering this year's Showgrounds Model Railway Exhibition, hosted by the Australian Model Railway Association Vic Branch. This year's video is one of our longest videos, which was very close to being split into a third part.

This year gathered 55 exhibitors. In this part we capture 10 of the operational layouts, along with two small intermissions from displays from traders.

Steam Sprint Down the RRL | Steamrail - Eureka Express - July 2025 | R71...

Howdy,

And we're back for another week. This video was a bid more impromptu, as it wasn't planned there was going to be enough footage for a full video. But as the weather decided to hold off a little on the Melbourne side, it was still chosen to take a look.

R711 has returned to service after a mechanical incident halted the previous Eureka Express. This time the train was assisted by streamliner A66, to boost power and extra loading who came from the previous Eureka.

Unlike the previous runs, the train saw itself running via the RRL due to track-works.

Anyways, cheers all. Next month, exhibition videos will be resuming, adding a bit more certainly to the scheduling,  so be sure to stay tuned.

Maroon Steam Rattlers the Dandenongs | Steamrail - Ringwood Steam & Tait...

Today we continue with our heritage coverage. Last weekend, Steamrail Victoria returned up to the Dandenong Ranges, with locomotive K190 and the Taits.

We spend the whole day up the ranges, with the intention of fixing a couple of clips from last year now that we had a new camera.

Anyways, just a little shorter than our last few videos, but here we are.

Winter Steam Light Up the Dandenongs | Puffing Billy Railway - Train of ...

Time for our flexible schedule to be back in place temporarily.

With only another three day's of this year's season, here's our vision of the 2025 Train of Lights. We headed out during the first week this year so means this is ready to go earlier rather than later.

This'll be our only full video on the event this year.

Today are back with this weeks video. We head out for the first Vintage Train for 2025, this being to Castlemaine. We got a rather nice surprise of A2986 taking charge of the train instead of R761. 

This had been planned as a train on train chase, so the video is a little like our first Vintage Train video.

Two-Car Comeng on Transfer - Metro ECOM Project | Westall - Newport Tran...

Well, we are currently back to our weekly scheduling for now, but this a little compilation from some recent special moves.

Over the last two months, Metro ran a two-car Comeng unit, as part of an upcoming project.

Two units were done up like this, and after the modifications were completed, they are hooked up together an run to Newport for further testing.

Not a regular sight that we upload non-heritage videos, so hope everyone enjoys.

Pakenham Steam Rattlers | Steamrail LXRA Charter - Beaconsfield Steam Tr...

Howdy all,

Time for this weeks video, and who'd have guess it would be on the last day of the month.

Over the weekend, the LXRA chartered out the steam hauled Taits for another round of shuttles, this time as a thank you to the Beaconsfield Community. Running between East Pakenham and Berwick, four shuttles were run along with four one-way transfers, with steam leading the DOWN trips.

We attempts to have some variety of locations from last year, when they were charted out for the Pakenham Community. We also jump aboard for the trip back to Melbourne.

Anyways, there really isn't any videos planned for the next little while, so we are back to our weekly/fortnightly scheduling for at least July.

Solo Steam Rambles through the Suburbs | Steamrail - Members Suburban Ra...

Well, didn't expect to be back so soon but here we are.

Over the weekend Steamrail ran their annual Member's Suburban Rambler, but unlike the past 2 years, it was back to steam power. K153 took the helm of the seven carriage long train travelling throughout Melbourne's suburban network. 

This video was initially planned to be an extra due to length, but after some changes to the trip, it did make it reasonable to be edited as a full video.

Anyways, enjoy the slightly shorter video.

Now we're finally at the end of the sequence. Next video is currently planned for Monday.

Glen Waverley Model Railway Exhibition 2025 - Part 2 | Waverley Model Ra...

Howdy, we're back for our last video in sequence. Today we have our second part of the Glen Waverley exhibition.

This video was intended to be a single part, but there were some network issues with out previous uploads which meant the videos have to be shorten slightly. Anyways, we're here.

This year's exhibition was once again pushing the size of the Brandon Park Community Centre, with 32 exhibitors (-1 due to being a no show).

Anyways, that's the last exhibition video for around a month, so it'll just be full sized trains for a little bit unless any new models finally arrive.

Bendigo Steam Shuttles & Melbourne Transfers | Steamrail - Bendigo Steam...

Hello all,

Continuing our coverage from the busy long weekend, we have our captures of Steamrail's Bendigo Steam Weekend. We captured two days of the operation, which is all complied into this single video.

Locomotives R761 and S301 joined forces for the tour. We take a look at both transfers and some of the shuttles that were run on the sunniest day of the weekend, Monday.

We will finish off our weekend's coverage with our second exhibition video that will be due on Wednesday. It is still yet to be decided whether it'll be a single part or split, so we shall have to see.

Ballarat Model Railway Exhibition 2025 | Ballarat Model Railway Club

Another long weekend has past, so it's time for our next exhibition video.

Today we head up to Ballarat for another exhibition. This year's ran closer to the town centre, so it made sense to check it out for another year.

14 operational layouts were available, making up a decent sized regional exhibition.

Steamrail - Ballarat Steam Shuttles Transfers 2025 | A2986, K183 & T364

Howdy.

We're back with on last video for this flexible rotation. 

Today, we have a shorter video compared to our other videos, this being a quick look at the transfer trains for this year's Ballarat steam shuttles. This annual operation has the train run up to Ballarat for the weekend as part of the Ballarat Heritage Festival.

We capture a single location on the return transfer, which this year saw the train turn back at Flinders Street Station.

Heritage Trains Sprint the Geelong Line | Steamrail April Rail & Sail & ...

Welcome back,

Today we're back to heritage trains. It's pretty rare we do a merge video, but that's what we have, as two specials travel down the Geelong line on the last Sunday of April. 

Steamrail Victoria operated their first Rail & Sail for 2025 with locomotive A2986 making it's first appearance on the run for a good while. 

707 Operations ran another day trip Slow Rail Journey (by name only) to Inverleigh, just like their first standard gauge run two year's ago.

We prioritise the movements of the Rail & Sail, capturing 707 when they are nearby or crosses paths.

We will be having a little break between this an the next video, so catch everyone in around 1.5 weeks.

Bendigo Model Train Exhibition 2025 | Bendigo Model Railroaders

Howdy,

Still proceeding along with out mini-backlog on videos.

As we attempt to keep the balance between our video types, we have another model railway exhibition video today. We visit the Bendigo Model Train Exhibition for the first time in this video, while on a layover with a Steamrail tour. This time, we got to see the Taradale layout, which previously had been seen at a couple of other exhibitions, but we'd missed the chance to see it.

The exhibition is a regional exhibition, which has 14 operational layouts on display.

Oil Hudson Thunders to Bendigo | Steamrail - Bendigo Easter Festival 202...

Today we are back to main line steam content. Today we take a look at Steamrail Victoria's Bendigo Easter Festival special tour with the Spirit of Bendigo, Hudson R711.

This year uses the same locomotives as last year's special, however, this year we got the opportunity to capture R711 being turned in Bendigo thanks to the Bendigo Railway Workshops.

Anyways, pretty normal video, so enjoy. Some of the clips were a little more shaky than usual for some reason, but it might be due to my tripod starting to show it's age with a heavier video camera than last year.

Easter Model Railway Exhibition 2025 - Diamond Creek - Part 1 | Yarra Va...

And we are back with the next Victorian model railway exhibition. The Easter Model Railway Exhibition runs annually at the Diamond Creek Bank Stadium.

This year, 21 layouts were on display, which we cover every layout, although do shorter takes for some layouts that have been seen previously due to filming contraints.

This video has again been split into two parts as is just goes over our threshold of a single part exhibition.

Steam from Day to Dawn Over the Hills - Puffing Billy Railway - April 20...

Howdy,

We've a bit of a break in the schedule as there hasn't been any mainline videos or exhibitions lately, so we're back at the Puffing Billy Railway for another day. This was captured last Saturday which saw the operation of the regular Saturday timetable, along with two special twilight trains. This day saw the operation of PBR's inaugural Steam & Spirits special to Lakeside. This was hauled by 14A with one of the rakes of carriages ferrying the passengers to the main event, tasting the flavors of the local breweries. Along with this, a special charter service was also run during the evening.

The main portion of the video captures the regular day's operation with locomotives DH5, 7A and 14A making an appearance. 

This video was supposed to be backlogged for a bit, but while I sift through what videos we have available, it was the quickest to prepare. We should be back next week, hopefully.

Sandown's Model Railway Exhibition - Sandown Train & Hobby Show 2025 | P...

We're back again, with another exhibition video. Haven't been able to post for the last few videos due to a n issue on YouTube's side not wanting to put out share links, but here we go. 

Today we are back for the annual Sandown Train & Hobby Show, or as we like to call it, Sandown's Model Railway Exhibition, as over half of the exhibition is for the train part. We spend a full day attempting to capture as much as we can, and this time due to the size, are limited to just the train components of the exhibition. This video has also been split into two parts.

Anyways, good to be back again, where the exhibition is slowly growing it's focus on layouts rather than traders.

Opening a VR K Class from SDS Models - 1980's K153

Howdy all,

With our flexible schedule in full swing, w're back on the MTMR layout. It hasn't been too long since our last unboxing, but trailing out a more prompt response the new products this year, even though, there aren't too many models planned for collection this year.

Anyways, today we go Victorian with the well awaited SDS Models K Class. The popular models have seemed to have been flying off the shelves, for some types anyways.

Anyhow, this is our look of one of the variations.

As stated in the video, dunno when our next unboxing will be, however, the exhibition scene is starting back up again, so stay tuned for those.

We're back at it for another chase, this time being a day trip to Victoria's western region. S301, S313 and T364 teamed up once again for another tour, but his time operating in top and tail down the Ballarat line and onwards.

Well, we have now returned to our flexible scheduling, but we're gonna start things off slowly, with some weekly uploads before we may have breaks of up to a fortnight.

Anyways, to start us off, we have a little video from our most recent venture up to Puffing Billy. This day saw some rather odd and rare operations due to the operation of a 16-carriage train for two of the three services.

Opening an AN CLF Class from Auscision Models

We're back on the MTMR railway today with a new HO unboxing video.

This time, we stretch out era a little, acquiring something that isn't really related to our main theme, but still a nice to have joining our DL Class for operation. Today we take a look at Auscision Model's new CLF class model. This is the class leader.

Anyways, good to be back in Australian modelling.

This is also our last extra video as part of the holiday scheduling, as we return to our flexible schedule. As usual this'll see videos uploaded when they are ready rather than being limited to a schedule. Quotas will be at least 3 videos a month from March, not including second parts.

Rattler Snakes Down the Glen Waverley Line | Steamrail/Elecrail - Lunar ...

Well, we're into the last week of our holiday scheduling, and we continue with our more current videos. This year marks the year of the snake on the lunar calendar, for this, Steamrail Victoria operated their heritage Tait train to the Lunar New Year Festival in Glen Waverley. The shuttles ran between Darling and Glen Waverley, and we capture the train at each of the stations along the line.

Geelong Model Railway Exhibition 2025 | Corio Model Railway Club

We're back for another round of exhibitions, and to finish off our January coverage, we head down to the Greater Geelong area for the Corio Model Railway Club's 50th Model Railway Exhibition.

This year they returned to The Centenary Hall which has since been completely renovated. A decent sized gathering of exhibits this year, however we are still able to complete our comprehensive coverage in a single video.

Streamliners & T Roll to Rochester | Steamrail - Australia Day Diesels 2...

Heritage trains have returned for 2025!

On Australia Day, Steamrail operated a day trip to Rochester with their diesel fleet. This was also the first time S301 has led a public heritage train since being acquired. This video captures the train on both legs of the trip to Rochester, making the video one of the longest heritage chase videos we have uploaded.

It was decided to not split the video as there was no good splitting point for a day trip, so here we are.

Sit back and relax for our first new heritage video for the year.

Our next video has been delayed due to this video, and will be uploaded on Friday. This will be the exhibition video, which I'm expecting to be around the same length. Till then, cheers!

Phillip Island Model Train Show 2025 | Phillip Island and District Railw...

Howdy all,

Last video missed out a post, but we are now in our holiday season again, so until the 17th of February, we've got two videos per week.

Today we travel out to another exhibition, once again, one we are yet to have gone too.

The Phillip Island & District Railway Modellers ran their annual exhibition last weekend, with a range of in-house club layouts were on display, along with some visitors.

Once again, this was another smaller regional size exhibition, with a few previously seen layouts as well as some new ones.

Anyways, a nice little exhibition.

More to come with the year just beginning. We are attempting to keep exhibition videos spaced out, so next weeks videos are gonna be a little backwards, but in any case catch everyone again soon.

Warrnambool Model Train Show 2025 - Part 2 | Warrnambool Model Railway Club

Alrighty, Howdy.

Today we have an extra video to the schedule due to the decision to split our Warrnambool Exhibition video.

Anyways this time, we take a look at the last eight layouts at the exhibition, completing our comprehensive coverage of this year's show. 

Next week, our holiday schedule resumes for four weeks, throughout these we have not planned for any two part videos, so, so there are no provisions for any extra videos beyond what have been planned.

Warrnambool Model Train Show 2025 - Part 1 | Warrnambool Model Railway Club

We're back with our first video to be filmed for the 2025 season, and like last year, we found ourselves in Warrnambool. We take a look at this year's Warrnambool Model Railway Exhibition, which encapsulates around the same size as last year's exhibition.

The video has been split into two parts due to it being just slightly over our maximum length for uploads, so an extra video is due out later this week to accommodate that.

This is the first of many model railway related videos that will still be uploaded to the main channel, rather than the dedicated model railway channel, so hopefully everyone enjoys.

Double V/Line A Classes Sprints Up the Echuca Line | 707 Operations - So...

G'day all,

We're back for another year... well kinda.

Behind the scenes, we are still in our break season, so this is a video from our backlog.

Mid-last year, an extra video was recorded, this being a charter with 707 Operations. 

The feature of the tour was the combination of two V/Line A class locomotives at the helm. A66 led the weekender that had ran up to Echuca the previous day, with recently repainted A62 and PTV N471 as assisting locomotives.

We capture the train though the morning freeze of country Victoria, finishing up in the inner suburbs.

Will be back next week for our next video, however a video for our other channel is in the works at the moment.
