Victoria's Railways and Comeng998 of 2023 in Review

One last video for the year.
Our year in Review captures the highlights of this year that we have captured. This however will be the last Year in Review of this style, as some changes are planned from next year.
This year's video is slightly shorter than previous years, but hopefully still captures most of what was seen this year.
Have a Happy New Year everyone!

Sunday 24 December 2023

2023 Christmas Special | MTMR Railway

Well, it's back to the formalities, and to start us off with our three video, end of year countdown, we have our annual Christmas Special.
Taking the helm are two of our newest additions to the fleet, being the Auscision Models C and G class.
This year, I play a little bit with the lighting. Thinking next time I'll back to something more regular as it restricts the carriages that can be used for the occasion.
Anyways, Merry Christmas everyone.

The Polar Express Returns to The Dandenongs | Puffing Billy Railway - Po...

Howdy all,
Back for this weeks extra, and one that is being published just in time for the season.
Once again, the Puffing Billy Railway operated their annual Polar Express specials for 9 days during mid-December. NG129 was again dressed up for the occasion, hauling the fully booked out session each day.
This video follows more of the style seen in our Transport Heritage Expo Chase video, were the clips seen in this video were captured over two days. Clips from the first day of filming are denoted in the description.
Anyways, this marks the last train chase for the year for us, and the last train video. We still have three more videos to end off the year, but yeah.
So Merry Christmas to everyone. Stay well during the festive season, and catch everyone soon.

Sunday 17 December 2023

Quad VR T Classes to Warragul | Steamrail - Member's Christmas Train 202...

Alrighty, time to start off another week.
Today we begin with the last heritage tour in Victoria for 2023, this being Steamrail Victoria's Member's Christmas Train. This year's destination was Warragul, being historically significant by once being the end of the electrification for the Melbourne network, until it was de-electrified during the late 1980s. The train was hauled by four Victorian Railway's T class locomotives, one representing each type of the class.
Wasn't too bad of a day at all.
Missed out on a post last Friday, but this Friday's video should be posted here once available, so catch everyone then.

Sunday 10 December 2023

Red Rattles Around Melbourne | Steamrail/Elecrail - Tait Members Train 2023

Hello all,
Lets start off another week's worth of videos.
Once again, we're still cleaning out the backlog of videos that were filmed earlier in the year, but without an uploading slot to be published. One such tour was this year's Tait Members Train, that ran in June.
The train did a suburban rambler style tour around Melbourne's train network.
Anyways, cheers all. Catch everyone later in the week.

Thursday 7 December 2023

Top & Tail Na's in the Dandenong Hills | Puffing Billy Railway - Variety...

Time for our first extra.
Today we have a rather special video, where we take a trip up to Puffing Billy to capture a rare operation of top and tail NA locomotives. During mid-August, the railway was chartered out by the Variety Children's Charity. Locomotives 12A and 8A top and tailed a consist of NBHs between Lakeside and Emerald for the day.
Anyways, enjoy the slightly different video.
Various videos from the backlog from the last year will be progressively uploaded during this extras season, so stay tuned for more!

Sunday 3 December 2023

Shunters Trundle Over the Great Divide | 707 Operations - The Winelander...

Back for another week, and time for a Winelander.
Over the weekend, 707 Operations ran their last public tour for the year. This had the Y classes make a trip to Maldon, with a side quest in Daylesford.
This video highlights the mainline portions of the tour.

Anyways, this week we also begin our holiday scheduling, so catch everyone later in the week for another video!

Sunday 26 November 2023

Steam & Push-Pull Ps Trek to the Stony Point Seaside | 707 Operations - ...

Welcome back for another week.
Today we have another heritage video, as we slowly begin to whine down for this year's heritage season.
For this video we capture 707 Operations tour, where they head down the Stony Point line on the Mornington Peninsular. Intially Steam locomotive R707 was to make the full journey down, but due to operational requirements, instead a return of V/Line's Push-Pull P classes would head down the entire length. R707 was dropped off at Frankston to allow the return of both the P classes and H carriages to the line.
Next week we will announce our plans for this holiday season, that will start the week as well.
Until next time, cheers all.

Sunday 19 November 2023

North East Dash - 150 Year's of the North East | Seymour Railway Heritag...

Hello all,
Welcome back for another weekly upload. One from last month, which saw the Seymour Railway Heritage Centre operate a shuttle to Benalla as part of the 150th anniversary of the North East Railway.
Locomotives made a dash up the line, with pick up stations at all stations along the way.
As a side note, tomorrow (21st of November), is the actual 150th of the North East line making it to Wodonga, so it was about time this video made it online.
Cheers all,
Back to flexible scheduling next week, so see you all.

Saturday 11 November 2023

Oil Burner Hudson to a Garden Show | Steamrail Charter - Morwell Interna...

Howdy all,
Time for this weeks video, and we ehad back to the Latrobe Valley, for what should be the the last tour in the region for 2023. This is also the last regional and Steamrail steam tour for 2023. For this, we have a chartered service, that saw locomotive R711 head east solo for the Morwell International Rose Garden Festival.
being a summer run, it saw the train as a rare daylight UP tour, something that for the Snow Train would be in darkness by the time they leave Hernes Oak Loop.
An enjoyable chase, as we begin the count down for the end of year.
Anyways, enjoy the video, next week's is from the backlog, so catch everyone on Monday.

Sunday 5 November 2023

Sunny Blue Bayside Steam Dash | Steamrail - Rail & Sail - November 2023 ...

Welcome back for another week.
Well, another weekend has passed and so has another tour. This was Steamrail Victoria's last Rail & Sail for 2023, and the last steam tour that was hosted and operated by them. Once again we cover a chase of both the rail and sail components, for what possibly might be one of the last times that we cover both sides comprehensively.
Anyways, under the haulage of K183 the 7 carriage train sprinted along with South West main line to the seaside town of Geelong, while Port Phillip Ferries' Geelong Flyer made it's dash along the bay with a layover in Portarlington.
Anyways, the season is slowing coming to an end in a few weeks, so until next week, cheers all.

Saturday 28 October 2023

Hudson & Streamliner South West Sprint | Steamrail - Warrnambool Westcoa...

Welcome all,
First flexible upload in a while. Today's video focuses on Steamrail Victoria's Warrnambool Westcoaster that was operated yesterday. It was only a partial chase of the tour.
This tour also marks the beginning of 18 months that steam train operations are to be halted to Warrnambool as upgrade works on the yard are completed to prepare for the eventual use of VLocity trains. This tour use West Coast Railway veteran R711 and streamliner S313.
Well, until next week, cheers all!

Sunday 22 October 2023

Sunbury Model Railway Exhibition 2023 | Sunbury Model Railway Club

Howdy all,
Welcome back for another week. We are finally back to our weekly scheduling, so for our one an only video this week, we have our coverage of the Sunbury Model Railway Exhibition. Like our Ballarat video, this is one of the smaller exhibitions we have visited, especially since we only captured the layouts this time. For once however we were able to complete a fully coverage video, which means all 8 of the operational layouts are featured in the video.
Anyways, that should be it for the exhibitions for this year, so until next time catch you all.
We do have a few more model railway videos planned for the year, whether or not that come out as planned are yet to be seen, however if you would like to get your model railway fix, come checkout or dedicated channel. Main difference is we primerily feature Japanese N gauge and British OO on that channel, but yeah.
Cheers.

Wednesday 18 October 2023

Double Header Steam to the Gippslands | Steamrail - The Gippslander: Sal...

Howdy.
Well back for our second video of the week.
So clearing up the last of the backlog created during our short break, we also have our second longest video on the channel to date.
So anyways, we complete our coverage of Steamrail Victoria's "The Gippslander", this time focusing on the two full day one way transfers to Sale then back to Melbourne from Bairnsdale.
From here on our re will get back to clearing some backlogged videos, however there is intentions to capture one last exhibition for the year, so more will be announced on our other social media ones plans are in place.
Well, cheers all. Have a good week. Catch everyone next time.

Sunday 15 October 2023

Top & Tail Steam & Diesel Heritage Train Shuttles | Transport Heritage E...

Welcome back!
Time for to for another weeks video and we continue our coverage on the NSW Transport Heritage Expo for 2023.
This video is a train chase video, doing what we usually do best in Victoria. Initially this video was supposed to cover everything else that there was to see at the expo, but the length was getting rather long for my liking, so those will be added as part of a future video on our other channel.
Was definitely a challenge doing train vs train chasing, while being unfamiliar with the network. I would like to give it another go in the future, but we shall see what that'll happen.
Sit back and enjoy the video!
Cheers, catch you all later this week for our second video of Steamrail's The Gipplander.

Wednesday 11 October 2023

Steam Returns to Bairnsdale | Steamrail - The Gippslander: Bairnsdale Tr...

Howdy all,
Been a while since we've posted here, but now that we are resuming social media operations, lets go!
For the next two weeks, we are having extra videos published as during out two break weekends, the videos made were extra duration videos. This video is the first of two parts overlooking the events of Steamrail Victoria's The Gippslander. Instead of having the parts in order of recording, we begin with the most historic, being the return of steam to Bairnsdale.
This video contains the trainsfer to Bairnsdale and the steam shuttles that were ran throughout the day.
Next week we will have the second parts of both this and the NSW Transport Heritage Expo.
Until next time, cheerio.

Sunday 24 September 2023

Steam to the New Glen Huntly Station | Steamrail - Glen Huntly to Mordia...

Well, we are back for another week.
Back to regular scheduling as we head into a slight break behind the scenes.
Today we have the second video that was filmed last week, where we head off to the New Glen Huntly Station for the Glen Huntly shuttles. K190 took charge of the Taits for this occasion, and honestly what a nice pairing.
Anyways, as it has already been announced on the community page, we are taking a behind the scenes break for 2 weeks. This was supposed to commence after the completion of this video, but realistically will commence after another video gets uploaded later this evening. For more information, check out the post. During this time, this blog won't be able to be serviced, although, there is an upload next week, there won't be a post here.
Until we return, have a good one everyone. Catch you all down the line.

Friday 15 September 2023

Steam Ratter Shuttles on the Outer Circle | Steamrail Charter - Ashburto...

Howdy all,
Well, its a little weird for a Saturday upload, but here we are.
Just to allow better balancing of the schedule, the second video of last weekend has now been uploaded. One of the videos being recorded this week will follow this week on Wednesday.
Anyways, this week we stay local, for the return of steam trains to the Alamein line. This is a charter service, that saw K183 and the Taits make their way along the old outer circle line.
Good to be local again.
In any case, enjoy the video. Catch everyone on Wednesday.

Saturday 9 September 2023

Blue R Class Cross the Golden Plains | Steamrail - Eureka Express - Sept...

We're back for another flexible video.
Yesterday we headed up to Ballarat for another one of Steamrail Victoria's Eureka Expresses. This is the first one we've captured to have gone via the Golden Plains first rather than after, as recently the train's running has been reversed.
Anyways, other than that, a busy day today, where this video will be pushed out next week, but to allow a video being filmed next week, we are pushing the video early on Saturday, so that video can follow on Wednesday.
Cheers all.

Wednesday 6 September 2023

Opening a Victorian Railways C Class in V/Line from Auscision Models

G'day,

Well, I did saw we'd have an extra this week, so here we are.
In this video we take a look at Auscision Model's new C class.
The model has been well anticipated since 2016 when it was first announced.
Along with the earlier released G classes, they make up a good workhorse for the Victorian fleet.
At the moment, this is the last unboxing for the year. But it time allows, another might be uploaded during December. If you want to see more unboxing videos, but of a non-Australian prototype, check out our model railway channel, as we continue to upload international models trains there.
http://www.youtube.com/@comeng998-mtmrmodelrailway

Cheers all, till next week.

Sunday 3 September 2023

Steam Shuttles to a Outer Suburban Festival | Steamrail - Hurstbridge Wa...

Howdy all,
Time for this weeks video. This time we have the second video filmed last weekend, where we headed up to Hurstbridge for this year's Wattle Festival, despite the issues that we had last year.
Not a bad day out at all capturing K140 and K190 back on the shuttles once again.

This week we have planned for an extra video on Thursday, this'll be an unboxing video (can you guess). Had planned for this to be uploaded sooner or during a regular uploading slot, but the schedule is very full, looking at it from now until the end of October.
Cheers all.

Saturday 26 August 2023

DERM Travels the Golden Plains & Up The Straight | DERMPAV - Ballarat & ...

Welcome back everyone,
It's flexible schedule time again, so time for an early upload. Today we are travelling to Ballarat for the first DERMPAV tour for 2023.
Running down the Golden Plains and Up the Straight, a first in a few years.
Anyways, enjoy, not a very long video, as the DERM is a very interesting unit to chase.
Cheers.

Sunday 20 August 2023

Steam & Sail Sprint to Geelong | Steamrail - Rail & Sail - August 2023 |...

We are back for another week.
This time we follow our flexible uploaded regime, uploading the video nicely within 24 hours of the end of the tour. Anyways, the past weekend saw Steamrail operate their Rail & Sail again, where we take the opportunity to capture K140 soloing the sprint our West. The Sail portion of the trip was the same as the last few, however this time they did make a stopover in Portalington.
We had a last minute change of recording locations from Little River to Geelong after a delay caused by operational requirements meant they would follow the next service to Geelong rather than be in front of it. Anyways, making the most of the Victorian heritage tours now while I can, some rather large changes are in the works that may make videos like these more difficult into the new year.
Cheers all, catch you all next week.

Sunday 13 August 2023

Melbourne Showgrounds Model Railway Exhibition 2023 - Part 2 | Australia...

Welcome all,
Time for part two of our Showgrounds Exhibition coverage.
This part is all layouts, capturing stands 46 to 57.
These are some of the larger more extravagant layouts the exhibition had on offer, mainly previously seen layouts, but there were some new ones to spice up the mix.
Coverage of 5 layouts were cut from the pair of videos due to recording constants. Hopefully there will be the change to capture those at other exhibitions in the future.
Just a single video this week, so cheers all, catch everyone next week.

Tuesday 8 August 2023

Melbourne Showgrounds Model Railway Exhibition 2023 - Part 1 | Australia...

Howdy all,
Back for another extra, which weirdly enough is on a Wednesday. Anyhow, today we have our first of two videos to cover this year's AMRA Vic exhibition at the Showground Pavilion. There were 57 stalls this year, with 20 being layouts. This year's video we captures most of the layouts and some of the displays. A list of the missed layouts will be written in the description of part 2, due on Monday.
Cheers all, catch you all soon.

Wednesday 2 August 2023

First Day of Trains at the New Glen Huntly Station - Melbourne Trains

G'day all,
Well, the new flexible schedule is now in place, and already there's an extra.
Today's video, we head to the new Glen Huntly Station, that was opened early on the 31st of July.
All shot were captured during the off-peak, so there weren't any trains using the centre track.
The platforms are pretty much complete, however the station concourse is still under construction, which includes the accessibility access.
We take a quick look around the station and capture some of the services to pass through the station.
Honestly not sure what station will be next for rebuild, so stay tuned for more in the future, possibly.
Next week we are planning for another double week, but will have to see how that progresses.
Cheers all.

Sunday 30 July 2023

K Class Cruise to Geelong | Steamrail - Rail and Sail May 2023 | K100 & ...

Welcome all,
Well, this is the actual final video for the holiday season. 11 videos uploaded this season.
Today we have a video that has been waiting for an uploading slot for the past few weeks, this being Steamrail Victoria's second Rail and Sail for 2023. This was also the last run that K153 operated as K100.
This video wasn't a chase video in the regular terms, as we headed down to Geelong by V/Line.
And update on the how the uploading schedule will proceed until the end of the year will be announced tonight, but expect another video this week, in-line with our flexible scheduling.
Cheers all.

Thursday 27 July 2023

X Class Solo Powers the Bendigo Line | Seymour Railway Heritage Centre C...

G'day everyone.
Time for the last extra for this holiday season. The season technically does end on Monday, but this is the last extra. Anyways, back to a more recent video, filmed on Sunday, we capture X31 on her solo trip out on the Bendigo line. The special was a private charter and ran from Seymour to Castlemaine via Southern Cross Station.
Well, hope everyone enjoys. Cheers all.

Sunday 23 July 2023

Double Streamliners Test Sprint the North East | ARTC AK Test Train to A...

Alrighty, into another week.
Now we are going to clear out some backlogged videos as we roll into the final week of our holiday season.
This video is from back in February where we headed out for ARTC's AK test train up to Albury with Streamliners GM10 and 42103. An absolutely glorious day, despite the temperatures being on the higher side.
Anyways, next video might be an impromptu video captured last weekend, dunno it may end up as next weeks video as I deal with a shortage of storage in my editing computer.
Cheers all!

Thursday 20 July 2023

Heritage Passenger Train to Portland | SRHC - Portland Weekender | C501 ...

Hello all,
Welcome to the second video for the week.
Well, should have been rather guessable with all the hype last weekend around Seymour's Portland Weekender.
The Portland line is one very picturesque shooting location with it being heavy in the logging industry. The slower speeds also allow for a rather decent chase.
This is a compressed video with multiple shots removed and backing shots cut, a future extended video might be uploaded in the future if there is enough interest (along side two other over length videos).
Well, sit back and relax. I hope everyone enjoys this rather long video.
Cheers all, till next week.

Sunday 16 July 2023

Steam from Union - Eastern Line to Ringwood | Steamrail - Union Suburban...

G'day everyone,
Time to begin another week. So back to mainline heritage this week, starting off with Steamrail's Union Shuttles. The day of shuttles ran from the newly built Union Station with locomotives K190 and K183. It was a rather difficult day having to juggle the high frequency Metro trains also in operation, also didn't help I was having a slight ache throughout the whole day.
Anyways, that's now online. Our video on Friday will cover the other tour we recorded over the weekend.
Cheers all.

Sunday 9 July 2023

Trains Around Melbourne #18

Howdy all,
Well, time for one of our bi-annually scheduled videos.
This is instalment 18 of our Trains Around Melbourne series.
Nothing much more to say about that, so hope everyone enjoys the shorter video to start off the week.
We will be returning to heritage videos again from the next video for a little bit.
This should also be week 3 of the holiday season.
Cheers all.

Thursday 6 July 2023

A62's Return to the Mainline | 707 Operations - Double A's to Kilmore Ea...

Second video for the week, and second extra for this holiday season!
How's everyone going, today we have our view of 707's members train that ran on the 1st of July to Kilmore East as a test run for locomotive A62. This saw the return of double A classes on a passenger train, with all of the A classes other than A66 being put into storage in 2014.
Not a bad run with two heritage liveried locomotives, this being A66 in V/Line Tangerine and A62 in V/Line Blood and Bone (blue and red).

Well, cheers all, we'll be back next week for another two videos, one of which being our chase of Puffing Billy's Train of Lights. Stay warm everyone.

Sunday 2 July 2023

Night Lights & Steam Through the Dandenongs | Puffing Billy - Riding the...

Well, it's week two of our holiday season, and time to start of with the first of two videos we are doing of this year's Train of Lights at Puffing Billy.
We had originally planned to do this last year, but tickets sold so quickly, that it was only possible to do the chase.
So to start off the week, we have a sort of best moments of riding the Train of Lights from Lakeside to Gembrook and return. Over an hour's worth of footage was captured during the ride, then cut down to 15 minutes with 5 minutes of shunting.
A project video is currently being created for the MTMR Productions channel, which'll hopeully see around 30 minutes of the ride footage utilised, so stay tuned for that.
If there is any interest for more of the ride, I might upload some more clip during our end of year holiday season.
Sit back and relax, we'll catch you all later this week for 707's Members Train.

Thursday 29 June 2023

Opening a V/Line 1st Series G Class from Auscision Models

Well, time for this week's second video.
A video that was delayed from it's original slot earlier in the year, but finally ready to be published.
Also some delays last light has pushed uploading an hour later than scheduled.
Anyways, today we take a look at one of Auscision Model's newest released, the V/Line 1st Series G Class.
We do our initial unboxing with locomotive G515 in the 1990's variation of the model.

A future full review covering both models seen in the video will be published towards the end of the year/early next year on our other channel.
Cheers all.

Sunday 25 June 2023

Ballarat Shuttles Transfer | Steamrail - Ballarat Steam Weekend 2023 | A...

G'day,
Well, its the first video for our holiday season.
Today's video finishes off the pairing of videos covering the events of the Steamrail Ballarat Weekend. In particular we capture the transfer of the tour and the shunting done after the shuttles on the Monday to prep the train for their run "Up the Straight".
Once again, it's another long video, so sit back and relax.

As we are now in holiday mode, our next video is due on Friday, so catch you all then.

Wednesday 21 June 2023

Glen Waverley Model Railway Exhibition 2023 - Part 2 | Waverley Model Ra...

Howdy everyone.
Second video for the week, and our second part to cover the Glen Waverley Exhibition. We cover the last 6 layouts on display, completing our comprehensive look of this exhibition. The first two layouts do take around 20 minutes of the video, due to their size.
Video has been published a little later, since well... I over slept. Anyways, sit back and enjoy, catch you all very soon.

Sunday 18 June 2023

Ballarat Heritage Steam Shuttles | Steamrail - Ballarat Steam Weekend 20...

G'day all,
We're back for this week's first video.
To start us off, we have our first video to cover the events of the Ballarat Steam Weekend, the Ballarat Heritage Shuttles. We cover two days of the tour, being the 10th and 12th. The 10th is only partial coverage, as I was using it as a way to use up time while wondering to the Ballarat Model Railway Exhibition. On the Monday, it was a rather nice surprise to have A2986 running tender first for the DOWN shuttles, just something a bit different.
Anyways, as last week's third video was a two parter, part 2 will be out this Thursday. The transfers associated with this video's tour will be uploaded next week, as we begin out holiday uploading season, more information will become available this weekend.
Cheers!

Thursday 15 June 2023

Glen Waverley Model Railway Exhibition 2023 - Part 1 | Waverley Model Ra...

Alrighty,
Final video for our triple uploading week.
To end us off, we have part 1 of out coverage of this year's Glen Waverley Model Railway Exhibition at the Brandon Park Community Centre. Since this is a part 1, part 2 will be due out next week after a break in videos.
This once again is a comprehensive overview of the exhibition, where we will capture 14 of the 15 layouts on display. The 15th layout was a U-Drive. In this part we look at the first 8 layouts in the main hall, that used various scales between 1:48 to 1:220.
Cheers all, we will be back on Monday to return to a heritage video, then part 2 on Thursday.

P.S. we're also getting pretty close to our holiday season, but more on that at the conclusion of next week.

Tuesday 13 June 2023

Geared Trundle to a Museum | CLIMAX - Lakeside to Menzies Creek Return T...

Howdy all,
Well, as per our community post, it's a triple video week.
To play as a gap between the two model railway exhibition videos coming out this week, we have a video from last weekend. Climax 1694 made another public run, this time a morning return from Lakeside to Menzies Creek, giving a 2 hour dwelling time to visit the railway's museum.
This video is one of the longest videos we've uploaded, so sit back and enjoy the video.
Next video is this Friday, so, catch you all then.

Sunday 4 June 2023

Steam Hauled Red Rattlers | Steamrail - Watergardens Suburban Shuttles |...

Hello all,
Well we're back for another week, and we only have a single video this week.
Anyways, this week's video, we head up the Sunbury line for the first Watergardens Shuttles with locomotive A2986 and the Red Rattlers. The six shuttles ran out to Sunbury and back with the A2  taking charge on the DOWN and Taits running the UP.
An interesting shuttles, but also rather limiting in locations towards the end of the video.
Well, that's all for this week, until next week. Have a good one.

Wednesday 31 May 2023

Steam Train Shuttles From Mernda | Steamrail - Mernda Suburban Shuttles ...

Howdy all,
Time for this weeks extra, as it was announced thanks to both a two parter and our flexible schedule trial. Today we have a video of Steamrail Victoria's most recent tour, the Mernda Suburban Shuttles.
Five shuttles were run between Mernda and Reservoir. This time it was hauled by locomotives K140 and K190.

Hope you all enjoy. Having to deal with some issues in the back-end with on of the other channels, so that fun...
Catch you all.

Sunday 28 May 2023

Warragul Model Railway Exhibition 2023 - Part 2 | Latrobe Valley Model R...

Welcome back everyone,
Time for part two of our Warragul Exhibition coverage.
This video covers 6 more layouts, with main coverage of the Gippsland Line layout, a two section layout  that displays Warragul and Moe in miniature.
A Steamrail video is being uploaded on Thursday, so stay tuned for that.

Hope everyone is well after Melbourne's minor earthquake last night.
Stay safe and stay well. Catch you all later.

Wednesday 24 May 2023

First Day of Trains at Union Station | Surrey Hills & Mont Albert, Victo...

Howdy all,

We are back for our second video for the week, as we attempt our flexible scheduling while having a two part video. Today we are at the new Union Station, that was completed as part of the level crossing removals at Union and Mont Albert Roads. The station combines two previous close stations, this being Surrey Hills and Mont Albert.
We take a look at some of the services just as the day turns over to the afternoon and into the peak.
Next week, we will be doing the same with the schedule as we complete part 2 of our coverage on the Warragul exhibition.

Cheers all.

Sunday 21 May 2023

Warragul Model Railway Exhibition 2023 - Part 1 | Latrobe Valley Model R...

Well we're back for another week.
Video was supposed to be out later, but with some spare time before the day's activities, we're out!
This video was supposed made into one videos, but it was decided to create a more comprehensive coverage of the layouts on display at this year's Latrobe Valley Model Railway Exhibition. Over the two parts, we will see 11 of the 12 layouts, since one was a U-Drive.
Next part is due next week, as we have another video planned for Thursday as part of our flexible scheduling.
Cheers all!

Sunday 14 May 2023

Oil Burning Hudson Up the Straight | Steamrail - Eureka Express 2023 - T...

Well, its time for another week's upload, and good ol' flexible scheduling, we're a day early (well more like 13 hours early but eh).
Today we have our view of the first Eureka Express for 2023, with locomotive R711.
We chase the train primarily one way, they see the train off as they head out towards Geelong.

Next week's video is planned as a exhibition video, but currently don't know if it'll be a single part or double.
Cheers!

Sunday 7 May 2023

A2 986 Solo to Seymour | Steamrail Charter/ARE - Farewell A.R.E Tour | A...

Alright, back to running weekly.
We have a video from last weekend, with the ARE Farewell Tour taking the spotlight today.
This also used locomotive A2986, the first time since it's test run in 2016 going up to Seymour on it's own.
The tour farewells a group that was well known in the past, but has slowly faded away from the railway community outside of the 300 or so members.
This chase was rather checkered, with location issues after Wallan on the DOWN, but the up was defiantly a lot more successful.
Cheers all, until next week.

Climax Dinner Run | CLIMAX - Paradise Hotel Dinner Train - Puffing Billy...

Howdy all,
We're back for this week's video, and once again because of the flexible scheduling, the video is now online 14 hours earlier than our recommended schedule. Today's video, we head back to Puffing Billy to see the Climax once again. This is her first trip for the year, where hopefully there are a lot more to come.
This will be the only video for this week, so cheers all. Catch you all next week.
Next week's video will be back to something bigger, as there will be a follow up post on the Facebook page tomorrow night. Cheers!

First Day of Trains at the New Deer Park Station - V/Line Regional

Newest video has now been uploaded, and yes it's an extra for this week. On Monday we announced there would be and extra video for this week, meaning that this will conclude three weeks of double videos. We plans to return to a single videos per week next week, but anything can change as we continue to evaluate the amount of new videos heading into the backlog (there's still an unboxing video in there that is waiting since March).
Anyways, today we go away from heritage trains, and instead see the newly rebuilt Deer Park Station, that opened on the 24th of April, 2023. As we can see, the station really isn't complete yet, with the lack of PIDs, Myki readers and lighting, but this allows the trains resume after a three week shutdown of the Warrnambool and Serviceton lines.
Anyways, we spend a bit of off peak seeing some of the VLocitys passing through the station. Eventually we will return once the station is more complete, for one of the peak times.
Cheers all.

PN's S307 Goes to Preservation | SRHC - The Homecoming: S307 | C501, T35...

Howdy all,
So once again, with this flexible uploading, means that our newest video has been pushed out one day early!
Today we have our vision of Seymour's S307 Homecoming Tour. This has locomotives C501 and T357 travel from Seymour to Laverton to pickup S307 that had been recently donated by PN and transferred over from SA by SCT. For another 10 minutes of the video, we capture the shunting in Laverton as they used T357 to pick up and marshal S307, then running around with C501 in the lead.

The schedule is getting rather busy, with multiple recent videos being thrown into the backlog. There are still more videos being filmed, which means a rethink of the schedule may be needed. But until the trial period for the flexible schedule expires in July, no major changes will be made. It is planned that another video is to be filmed tomorrow, where this video will be uploaded as a second video for the week, on Thursday. This is a non-heritage related video.

So until later, catch you all soon!

Hudson & Streamliner Storm the Bendigo Line | Steamrail - Bendigo Easter...

Last video of our Easter doubles. This is the second video looking at the operations of Steamrail's Bendigo Easter Steam Weekend. On Easter Sunday, a day trip was ran from Melbourne with V/Line's A66. This would then become a magnificent 10 carriage train back to Melbourne with R711 added to the mix.
Anyways, enjoy the video. Back to weekly for a little bit, however, there are a lot of videos being filmed atm, so maybe time to a video clean out week? we'll see.
Cheers!

This part we cover the N gauge layouts in the main hall and the layouts in the second room.
We did have another video recorded over the weekend, however, this will be held back, like our Don River Railway video.
Cheers all.

Spirit of Bendigo Powers Up the Divide | SRV - Bendigo Weekend Transfer ...

Howdy all,
Second video for the week, in place of what should be the second part to Monday's video.
This time we capture Steamrail Victoria's Bendigo Steam Weekend. This has been split into two parts, so next week will be double videos of second parts.
Anyways, join us for a chase of the tour from Melbourne on Good Friday, then the Bendigo Local Shuttles with R711 and A66.
Until next week, have a good one.

Sunday 9 April 2023

Easter Model Railway Exhibition 2023 - Diamond Creek - Part 1 | Yarra Va...

Howdy all,
Time for that weekend that makes the schedule feel like a holiday season again.
Today we have the first part of the annual Easter Model Railway Exhibition. Once again, it was held at the Diamond Creek Bank Stadium, but they are back better than ever, with 55 stalls across two rooms. 23 layouts were on display, where in this first part we look at 8 of them.
Our second video this week will be from the Steamrail Bendigo Steam Weekend, as per the scheduling last year.
Cheers all, catch you all in a few days.

Saturday 1 April 2023

Trains & Trams on the Final Day of Glenhuntly Station | Pre-LXRA

Howdy all,
So as per the new flexible scheduling, we have our newest video being uploaded one day early. This video farewell's Glenhuntly Station, the latest station to be demolished as part of the LXRA. The crossing has one of the unique features of being one in three to still have a tram square. The new rail-under station is due to be completed later in the year.
Our flexiable scheduling means that heritage and station closing videos are supposed to be uploaded within 24 hours of their completion, however with Friday filmed videos, they will be aimed for 10:30 AM Sundays. Next weeks video will be back to our Monday schedule, as the schedule for next week is being changed inline with the previous year's Easter specials.
Alrighty, cheers all.

Monday 20 March 2023

EMDs Power to the Sea | Steamrail - Diesel Rail and Sail 2023 | S313, T3...

Howdy everyone,

Well, was running a little late tonight, but no matter. This puts to test our new flexible scheduling. Today we have the first of this year's rail and sails'. For the first time in a long time, Steamrail threw diesels at he helm of the service.
Our video covers a chase of both vessels, where pretty much half of the video covers the rail portions and half on the sail. Anyways, hope everyone enjoys.
Next week, there shouldn't be a video, as per our scheduling, it is technically fortnightly now.

Cheers all.

Wednesday 15 March 2023

Sandown Model Railways & Hobbies Exhibition | Sandown Train and Hobby Sh...

G'day everyone,
Time for our second and final part covering this year's Sandown Train and Hobby Exhibition.
This part covers the rest of model railway displays and some of the RC displays available, since our main focus on this channel is the model railways. Conclusively over the two videos, we cover 17 of the 19 operational model railway displays at the exhibition.
Hope everyone has enjoyed this year's coverage, we'll see if we get the chance to do again next year.
Cheers all.

Sunday 12 March 2023

Sandown Model Railway Exhibition | Sandown Train and Hobby Show 2023 - P...

G'day all,

Cheers all.

Sunday 5 March 2023

Royal Train Shuttles in Warrnambool | SRHC - Warrnambool Royal Train Her...

G'day everyone,

We're back to our regular schedule. Today's video was supposed to be uploaded yesterday, but conflicting plans and unexpected events meant that it wasn't it wasn't going to be possible to have it completed. Today we travel to Warrnambool where the Seymour Railway Heritage Centre were running heritage shuttles with one of their royal train carriages. Three shuttles operated between Warrnambool and Boorcan. Since this is shuttles, we one again use public transport to travel around.
A first for any of our videos, components were recorded by a second person, this being SBX2000, who took control of the GoPro during the second shuttle to get a wallkthrough of the train. and a few other shots.
Next video should be the Monday of the Labour Day Long Weekend, and is a rather self-explanatory video. Anyways, cheers all, catch you then.

Evie Evaluation From Maryborough | EV120 Infrastructure Run Up the Weste...

G'day everyone,
Well, here we go, time for our last video for the holiday season. Today's video we have a chase video of Metro's newest IEV, EV120. On this day, they were operating a recording run from Maryborough with the pair of QUBE G class locomotives.
We follow the train from Maryborough to Melbourne.

Anyways, from the next week we will be trailing a new flexible scheduling, that was outlined on our anniversary video on the 11th of January. In short, this primarily is for heritage videos, so they can be uploaded within 24 hours of the conclusion of the tour. Other videos will still be uploaded on Mondays with second part videos uploaded on Thursdays. We will also be dropping down to a fortnightly uploading schedule when there is no recent video from one of our main categories.  Of course being a trail, this'll run until the end of June where we will decide if it'll be continued or reverted to our previous schedule.

Cheers all.

Final Days of Trains at Surrey Hills Station - Melbourne Trains

Howdy,
So back again, I admit that part of the reason why we didn't have extra videos for part two was the amount of work needed to upload, as here's the third video in 5 days.
Today we complete our look at the recent permanent station closures, this time focusing on Surrey Hills Station, both the older and newer of the pair. What do I mean about this? Well, the station was opened first in 1883, however the buildings were rebuilt in 1962, making the main significance being the platforms unlike the heritage listed Mont Albert Station.
Surrey Hills Station was closed in two stages. Firstly, DOWN trains ceased stopping on the 30th of January to allow the access to platform 3 to be demolished, then finally the rest of the station closure at just after 8:30PM on the 17th of February, 2023 finishing off the 139 years of serving the Surrey Hills community.

Anyways, one more video to go to complete this holiday season, so catch everyone again very soon.

Monday 20 February 2023

Opening a Streamlined NSWGR C38 Class (3801) from Australian Railway Mod...

Howdy all,
Time for the first and only extra for this holiday season. Today we have part two of our unboxing of the ARM C38, 3801. Straight to the layout we go to see how she preforms. At this point I really do need to invest into some NSW carriages now that there are two NSW locomotives part of the fleet.

Anyways, two more videos left for this holiday schedule, then we return to our new scheduling for the year, as per outlined in our annual update videos from the 11th of Jan.

Cheers all.

Saturday 18 February 2023

Final Day of Trains at Mont Albert Station

G'day everyone,
Sunday uploading still feels weird, but here we go. Today we have our first video to cover the recent station closures. On the 17th of February, 2023, Surrey Hills and Mont Albert Station's on the Belgrave/Lilydale Lines closed for level crossing removal works. Unlike other crossing removals, the two stations are being closed permanently, with a new combined station to be constructed between the two stations, named Union Station.
In this video we capture some of the final services to pass through Mont Albert Station, including the last DOWN to use platform 3. Our second video will capture the final trains for the night at Surrey Hills Station.
Cheers all, just a reminder there is an extra video on Tuesday, being part 2 of our ARM C38 unboxing.

Wednesday 15 February 2023

Opening a Streamlined NSWGR C38 Class (3801) from Australian Railway Mod...

G'day everyone, first post on this for a while. So today we have the first of two parts looking at the Australian Railway Model's most recent release for the Legend of Steam, 3801. The video was only split last night due to the video going over 30 minutes long as it is it is attempted for all model railway videos on this channel to be not too long for better retention. Anyways, we are now in phase 4 of our holiday schedule until the 26th of February.

Cheers all, catch everyone next week.

Thursday 2 February 2023

Geelong Model Railway Exhibition 2023 - Part 2 | Corio Model Railway Club

Howdy all,
Missed out on posting when the first part was uploaded since that had to be scheduled for uploading. Anyways, part 2 of our coverage of the Geelong Model Railway Exhibition is now online, completing our first exhibition for 2023. This video takes a look at another 7 of the layouts on display for the exhibition.
This video also marks the end of phase three of our holiday scheduling. We will now be taking a little break until the 12th of February. Due to the nature of this break, no new Victorian videos will be recorded in this time for this channel, so the first tour for the year will be missed unfortunately.

Well, anyways, hope everyone enjoys. Cheers all. Catch you all after our break.

Thursday 26 January 2023

Spring Steam in the Hills - Nov 2021 | Puffing Billy Railway Returns to ...

Well, welcome to this weeks second video.
Today, one from a bit of time ago, capturing the return of Puffing Billy after Victoria's final lockdown in 2021. A pretty regular video at Puffing Billy, with the priority in capturing the DOWN services, so funnel first instead of bunker first. Three locomotives were used on this day, 7A, 8A and 12A.
Anyways, it's been a while since we've had a regular Puffing Billy video, so hope you all enjoy.
Cheers.

Sunday 22 January 2023

Steam and Tait Parallel Runs | 2022 Steamrail Mainline Parallel Run Extras

Howdy all,
Today we have another heritage video. This is a complied video from the two parallel runs in 2022, with most of the extra shots that were captured during the ride sections behind the Tait. We begin with some of the spare shots of the Ringwood run. There was a lot initially cut due to the length of video. The Moorabbin parallel is primarily the sections where we don't have the parallel, being more a regular ride video.

The other main videos have been linked in the description.

Catch you all later in the week.

Trains Around Melbourne #17

G'day,
Time for another edition of our Trains Around Melbourne series. With it being a a new year, and now our 17th edition, it time to welcome Melbourne's newest train to the videos. It was the intention to have them introduced with a full video just on the HCMTs, however, being restricted to only one line, and now that they are ominous to that line (also, that HCMTs have already been part of other videos). Anyways, hope everyone enjoys this edition. We will still have a full videos on the HCMTs in the future, but probably once they have begun operations on the Sunbury line.
Cheers all.

Sunday 15 January 2023

VR R Class & PN Diesel to Bendigo | 707 Operations - Walkerlander & Wine...

Howdy everyone,
Time for another weekly video. Now we are beginning with the lot of videos awaiting in the backlog, so one from April last year, covering the 707 Operations Walker & Wine Lander special down the Bendigo Line. Intially the train was just for the Winelander experience, but later an additional option was added as the tour coincided with the Daylesford Country Spa Railway's Walker Fest 2022.
This video covers predominantly the mainline trip section as far as Elphinstone.

Cheers all, catch you all soon.

Steam Returns to Mornington | K163 Returns to Steam from Overhaul - Morn...

G'day all,
Well it's time to begin our 11th year, and back to heritage. Today we are at the Mornington Railway for their relaunch of locomotive K163, that just returned to steam after some works at Newport Workshops.
Once again this is another hybrid video, being both a chase and ride video, although the ride is a shorten version, where a full length will be uploaded at a later date.
Anyways, we've got a few more heritage videos for the rest of the season, so stay tuned.

10 Years of Comeng998 Railway Videos Special & Future Plans

With it now being the 11th of January, our 10 years of YouTube ticks over to 11 years tomorrow. So to celebrate the achievement of reaching our first decade, it’s time to take a look back at what has changed the channel over the last 10 years, and how that has made up what we are now.
The video has been broken into 3 parts, the past, the present and the future, where we announce the changes to the scheduling of the videos. This comes to effect from the holiday season.
Thanks everyone for the 10 years. Can't wait to see what's in store for the next decade.

Siemens Nexus on the Burnely Group | Metro Siemens Testing to Camberwell

Hello!
we we are beginning phase 3 of our holiday schedule and we begin with a rare movement. A Metro Trains Siemens Nexus took a trip up to Camberwell during late 2022 for clearance testing. Defiantly one of the shorter videos we have uploaded to the channel in a while. This video was supposed to be uploaded as our first video for the year, but after a last minute decision to split the Bluestone Express video, this was pushed a week back.

So yes, we are back to a dual weekly schedule, with videos on Mondays and Fridays. This Wednesday we will have a special video uploaded to coincide with the conclusion of our 10 year anniversary.

Till next time, catch you all down the line.
