Victoria's Railways and Comeng998 of 2022 in Review

G'day all, well it's the final video for the year!
Our annual year in review, capturing the events of our 10 year on YouTube.
Only just fully recovered recently, so the video was kind of rushed, but also wasn't, with the final render being completed last night at 3AM.
Anyways, hope everyone enjoy's the video and I'll catch you guys in the new year.

Week-Long Railway Music Tour - MGS | 707 Operations Char - Bluestone Exp...

G'day everyone,
Time for our final regular video for 2022. Ending off the year with the last heritage tour for the year, well at least part of it. The video was planned to be a full length, but as it creeped towards the 50 minute mark, it was decided to split the video. During the second week of December the Melbourne Grammar School hired a sleeper train from 707 Operations to be their chariot for this season's regional tour.
Obviously this means our first video for next year will be the second part of this video.
Anyways, we know what's next, our Year in Review, assuming I get the chance to complete the video fully.
So, there we are, catch you at the end of the month.

2022 Christmas Special | MTMR Railway

Merry Christmas everyone.
Hope the day has started bright for you.
Today we have our annual Christmas Special.
Since there is a blog post, means the video was uploaded on Christmas Day, instead of a few days prior.
Slowly been gaining the energy back to do things again (self-iso is horrible), but a lot of project that have been delayed.
A few more videos to complete for the year, and once those are done, we can begin preparing for the rather major changes that will be announced on January 11th.
Cheers all.

The Polar Express Visits the Dandenongs | Puffing Billy Railway Polar Ex...

G'day everyone,
Welcome to another week's video. Today we are out at Puffing Billy to capture the final day of this year's Polar Express Christmas Specials, after a successful 2021 season.
Once again former South African NG G16 NG129 was decorated for the occasion and hauled the 8 day's worth of services.
On to some scheduling updates. This video marks the final video as part of the first segment of the holiday schedule. We now go into segment two, where as outlined in our YouTube community post, there will be four uploading dates during this time.

Cheer all, hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Heritage Christmas Special to Ballarat | Steamrail - Members Christmas T...

G'day all,
Welcome to this week's first video. Today we take a look at Steamrail Victoria's last tour for 2022, this being their members train.
Locomotives N454 and T395 took the helm of the tour to Ballarat, then guest locomotive R707 joined them for the return to Melbourne.
As the year's end comes near, there are a lot of last minute events trying to be slotted in, this means that in this video we leave the train in Ballarat, for another unrelated event. We rejoin the train in Altona North, after some spare time is found.
Just as a heads up, phase two of the holiday schedule begins next week.

Cheers all, catch you all again soon.

Thursday 8 December 2022

Final Loco-Hauled Albury Pass | V/Line's Last Loco-Hauled 8625/8630 - Re...

Howdy all,
Time for the second video of the week, apologies for the slight delay in uploading as well, waiting for YouTube to process is a bit of chore.
Anyways, today we have a video from earlier in the year capturing the final scheduled locomotive hauled service to Albury. On the 31st July, the Albury line became all VLocity with the last N class operating the midday service from Southern Cross Station the day before.
We travel out to capture the train all the way to Albury and return, marking the end of the 139 year old tradition of locomotive hauled service from Victoria. Not the end of loco hauled pass completely, with the XPT still due to operate for at least another 3 years.

Cheers all, catch you all again very soon. Reminder that phase one of the holiday schedule ends next week.

Sunday 4 December 2022

Steam Shuttles to Essendon | Steamrail - Essendon Suburban Steam Shuttle...

G'day everyone,
Welcome back to another week's video. Today we take a look at Steamrail Victoria's last steam shuttles for the year, this being the Essendon Suburban Shuttles with locomotives A2986 and K183.
The shuttles operated between Essendon Station and Flinders Street Station.
We aim to capture the tour from as many locations as possible, with the one double up of Newmarket Station because of time constraints.

Anyways, thanks all, remember there is another video due for Friday, so until then, stay well. Catch you all again soon.

Thursday 1 December 2022

Heritage Shuttles to Frankston | Steamrail - Moorabbin Suburban Shuttles...

Howdy all, time for our second holiday season video.
Today's video is one of our shortest videos in a while, as we cover the second events from the 26th of November. This video takes a look at the Moorabbin Suburban shuttles that operated in between the two parallel runs.

From next week, the extra videos will mostly be non-mainline heritage videos, as the season begins to slow down for the year.

Until next time, catch you all down the line.

Thursday 24 November 2022

Opening a Victorian Railways DERM from IDR Models

G'day everyone.
Today we have the first video as part of our holiday schedule, where to start us off this season, we take a look at the recently released IDR Models Victorian Railways DERM.
This captures the preserved DERM RM58.

This year, the holiday season has been broken into 4 sections. Section 1 will run until the 19th of December, so until then, enjoy our regular Monday and Friday uploads.

Well, until next time, catch you all down the line.

Sunday 20 November 2022

Mernda to Reservoir Steam Shuttles | Steamrail - Mernda Suburban Shuttle...

Howdy all,
We're back for another week. Actually, this time, it's the first of two videos for the week as we have now entered our holiday uploading season. This is phase one of the season, and will run until the 19th of December.
Anyways, today we head back onto the Mernda line to capture Steamrail Victoria's Mernda Suburban Shuttles with K class locomotives K100 and K190.
Overall turned out a rather decent day despite the weather warnings, with the main issue being how windy it was during the latter part of the train.
Anyways, hope you all enjoy and well catch you at our next upload.

Sunday 6 November 2022

Geared Steam Trundle | Climax Twilight Train Special - Paradise Hotel Di...

Howdy everyone.
Back for another week, today we are back at Puffing Billy to capture the rather popular Climax locomotive on her annual run.

This year the trip was slightly different, with Climax beginning from Belgrave and only travelling as far as Clematis. Here the locomotive used the rarely use turn-back siding as passengers had dinner at the nearby Paradise Hotel.
We only capture one way for this trip, since by the return, there wouldn't be any light, and I had to rush down to Port Melbourne for another event.

Our holiday schedule will be returning soon, so stay tuned for more!

Monday 24 October 2022

Final Steam Train Through Mont Albert | Steamrail Charter - Mont Albert ...

G'day everyone.
So time for this weeks video, which was delayed from our regular 10:30 uploading time. Today's video comes from Mont Albert, the center of Steamrail Victoria's Mont Albert Shuttles.
Hauled by two K classes, the special operated between Burnley and Blackburn with passengers alighting at Mont Albert.
The tour was chartered to celebrate the station's 132th and last birthday with the station due for closure during early 2023 as part of the LXRA's removal of the Mont Albert Rd crossing that would see Surrey Hills and Mont Albert Stations' merged into and becoming Union Station.
This video is a mix video again. The first 10 minutes is or regular chase video from various stations on the line and then the last 15 minutes is a ride video on the transfer back to Newport via Blackburn.
Anyways, until next time, catch you all down the line.

Sunday 16 October 2022

Heritage Train Shuttles in Sydney's CBD | Transport Heritage NSW - Herit...

Back for another week.
Howdy all,
Our last video from our recent NSW trip, time to take a look at the Transport Heritage Expo.
Was definitely one of the highlights of the trip.
Pretty self explanatory for anyone from NSW, but the Transport Heritage Expo is an event ran by Transport Heritage NSW bringing all that's heritage into Sydney's center. A fleet of heritage trains, buses and ferries give's people the opportunity to reprise NSW from a bygone era.
This video has a component of a ride video, from around 5 to 20 minutes in Red Rattler F1. If I was to do this again, I will defs be there for multiple days.
Anyways, enjoy my first attempt at doing a video in Sydney.
Till next week.

Sunday 9 October 2022

Double Header K Classes to Ballarat | Steamrail - Triple K's to Ballarat...

G'day everyone,
Been a little bit since I posted here, since well I have been scheduling a lot of the newer videos lately. Anyways, today we have the second triple header to celebrate 100 years of the K class, except it wasn't after K190 failed prior to leaving Newport, so just K100 and K183 took charge of the tour. Was a rather good chase with the tour being rather uneventful for most of the trip, except of the extended stay in Bank Box loop.
In any case, I wasn't intending to upload this video this week, as our special video from across the border was supposed to be published, but since it's a rather large video, I haven't been able to complete the edit as of yet, so that'll come out next week

Video production should be slowing down a little over the next few weeks, with videos being a week behind the recording dates to allow more flexibility in editing during this busier time.

Until next time, keep well, catch you all down the line.

Sunday 11 September 2022

Heritage Train Street-Run the Broadway | 707 Operations - The Grainlande...

G'day everyone,

Welcome back to another weekly video. Today we have a highlights real of the chase of 707 Operations' "The Grainlander" that operated to Sea Lake and Nullawil from the 2nd to 4th of September.
The tour was a steam and diesel tour, featuring locomotive R707 and V/Line's A66.

This video has been dramatically shorten as the overall recording was over an hour long. This come as an idea, that we are going to trail a sort of movie night later this year, where the full length video will be uploaded, and hopefully be ad-free with the exception of start and end of the video. This will be completely re-edited and include pacing and backing shots that had to be removed from this video.
More announcements will be out later.

Next week, we will be back to something smaller, Can you have a guess what that is?
Anyways, until next time, stay well and catch you all down the line.

Sunday 4 September 2022

Black & Blue Ks to Hurstbridge | Steamrail - Hurstbridge Wattle Festival...

Back again for another week.
Today we have our recounts of the Steamrail Hurstbridge Wattle Festival shuttles. The annually run specials operate from Hurstbridge to Eltham as part of the locally operated Wattle Festival, usually held on the last Sunday of August.
Today's video take the form of our newer videos, where the first part of the video is a chase video for the morning transfer and shuttles, and the end is onboard the night train, with key moments from the trip.

Some may notice a slight deficiency occurring mid-way though the shuttles section, this is due to an injury that had to be dealt with, the first time on any chase video I've had.
Anyways, that's all fine now, and looking forward to hopefully having the next weekend free from train chasing.

Anyways, until next time, stay well and catch you all down the line.

Sunday 28 August 2022

Caulfield Model Railway Exhibition 2022 - Part 2 | Australian Model Rail...

Hello all,
Well, we're back for another week, and time to complete our pair of videos of the Caulfield Model Railway Association.
This part covers some of the larger sized layouts the exhibition had to offer.

Just came off a full on day at the Wattle Festival, and it comes as a weird feeling that whole railfanning industry has changed so much post COVID. Don't know if it's better or worse, but it does make the activities harder and harder. We are still keeping at it with the tours as part of our 10th year, don't know what the future holds.
Thank you all, catch you all next week.

Wednesday 24 August 2022

Push-Pull A Shuttles in Warragul | Steamrail - Spirit of Warragul & Warr...

Alright, second video for the week, credit to the way we upload two part videos nowadays.
Today we have our vision of Steamrail Victoria's Spirit of Warragul Day Trip and Warragul Shuttles from Saturday the 20th of August. Video is a little long, so sit back and relax.
Anyways, the tour saw locomotives A2986 "Spirit of Warragul" and V/Line Heritage's A66 head down to Warragul for shuttles to Longwarry, the start of the single track section, currently in the process of being duplicated. Technically this video could have been split into two, as the transfers and the shuttles were two separate tours, but we are still testing how a longer video will go.
Anyways, next week we will have part two of the Caulfiled Exhibition, so stay tuned for that, then for a little while, heritage videos will be a week behind their uploading.

Until then, stay well, catch you all next time.

Sunday 21 August 2022

Caulfield Model Railway Exhibition 2022 - Part 1 | Australian Model Rail...

G'day all,
Time for this week's video. Today we are at the Caulfield Model Railway Exhibition, operated by the Australian Model Railway Association at Caufiled Racecourse. The exhibition was held on 20th and 21st of August and marked the 50th exhibition for the association. This video captures the events on the second day as on the first we were out to capture Steamrail Victoria's Warragul Shuttles. In part one we begin from the east side of the showroom and gradually move along the southern wall to the west. It's good to have the return of one of the larger Melbourne exhibitions again.
As this is a two parter, we will be having a second upload this week, however, like the last few times, the video to be uploaded on Thursday will be the Warragul Shuttles, then part two will be uploaded as next week's video.
So until next time, catch you all down the line.

Double Hudson Rs Power East | Steamrail - Snow Train 2022 - Train Two | ...

Welcome back everyone,
Some of these videos are getting a bit easier to assume at the moment with the coinciding event occurring the weekend before uploading. Today we capture the second Snow Train for 2022 from Steamrail Victoria. Hauled by two of the final Victorian Railways express steam locomotive's, the Hudson R Class, the popular annual special to the Latrobe Valley has returned. Unlike the video for Train One, this isn't a full chase video, as due to a conflicting schedule, I was only able to capture the trip to Traralgon, as it was intended that we would ride one of the specials. To end off the video, we head back to Southbank to listen to the sounds of steam echoing through the dense landscape.
Anyways, hope you all enjoy, until next time, catch you all down the line.

Sunday 7 August 2022

V/Line A Class Dash to the Boarder | 707 Operations - The Riverlander Sl...

Another week and we have returned for another video.
This weeks was once again a short turnaround video, with the majority of the video being filmed yesterday. This should be the last of these for a while, with the next few tours being on Saturdays.
Today we chase 707 Operations Riverlander weekender tour to Tocumwal. The train was hauled by V/Line Heritage A66. We capture the train departing from Southern Cross on the first night of the tour, then rejoin the train for the return to Melbourne from Tocumwal on the Sunday.

Till next week, stay well.

Sunday 31 July 2022

Eaglemont Red Rattler Shuttles | Steamrail/Elecrail - Eaglemont Village ...

Our latest weekly video is out!
Fresh off the press from yesterday's Eaglemont Tait Shuttles for the Eaglemont Village Heritage Day.
The Red Rattlers operated seven shuttles from Eaglemont station for a 40 minute return trip.
This video like the previous Glen Waverly shuttles is only a chase video and not a combined video, as we didn't ride these trips. The Tait's made as quick of a sprint as they could between the two stations, well as much as they could while following a Metro service both ways.
Hope you all enjoy the video, until next week, all the best.
There is a likely chance next weeks video will be delayed for a few hours, as once again the video is being recorded the night before.

Sunday 24 July 2022

Opening a NSWGR C38 Class (3820) from Australian Railway Models | Part 1

Time for another video.
Now fully back to our regular weekly uploading schedule, and we return with a two parter.
This is a video that was originally planned to be published during the extras schedule, but never-mind the video is finally coming out. The intention is to have at least 3 or 4 unboxing videos a year, so we will see how the fitting of the rest of them will go, as they are subject to what models are being released.
Anyways, today we have the first of two parts of the unboxing of ARM's C38, 3820 in her final and preserved lined black livery.
Unlike the other steam models, this model is more based around a budget sensitive modeller, even beating the price of most diesel models. How does she look? find out below.
Part 2 will be online on Thursday!
Till next time, catch you all down the line.

Sunday 17 July 2022

Double Rs to the Snow | Steamrail - Snow Train 2022 - Train One | R711 &...

Well, we are back for the weekly schedule.
Today's video, probs should have been obvious, but captures the first Snow Train to be operated by Steamrail Victoria for 2022, making their return after being cancelled for the last two years.
We begin our video from Armadale, then following along all the way to Traralgon.
It's great to capture the double Hudson R classes again, as this is their first tour together this year since R711 has been having some repairs during the earlier part of the year.
This video attempts a majority of locations that we haven't attempted before, that will be contrasted from our next video to cover the Snow Train.
Anyways, until next week, stay safe, stay well and have a good week.

Thursday 14 July 2022

Trains Around Melbourne #16

Howdy everyone,
The time has finally came for the release of our final extra video for this holiday season.
Finally breaking away from heritage videos, we have our 16th installment to our Trains Around Melbourne series.
These videos are usually comprised of extra clips recorded throughout the years from train chases.
This will also be the last installment to not include HCMTs, as they have now became so numerous, it's about time they were introduced to the series.

From here on out, we will be resuming our weekly schedule, scheduled for 10:30AM on Mondays until around mid-November. It looks like there shouldn't be as many tours in the short term, so there should be time for some of the initially planned extra videos to be uploaded, as they were postponed because of the large heritage backlog we had to power through this season. Anyways, next video still due on Monday, so until they, stay safe and stay well.

Sunday 10 July 2022

VR Steam & V/Line Diesel Pace to Bendigo | 707 Operations - The Gracelan...

Back again for another weekly video.
A little late today, because well, I couldn't wake up, after all it is the last week of break, so maximizing my sleep time while I can.
In any case, as expected this week's video is from the latest mainline tour. Rather weirdly it's been around 6 months since we have uploaded a video covering a 707 Operations tour, but to be honest, their weekenders haven't been that interesting to cover, and we do actually have one of their tours in the backlog, but there just hasn't been the time to upload. Hopefully we will get a chance soon with the decrease of tours over the next few months.
Anyways, today we follow the Gracelander special, a tour to take passengers to the Granceland exhibition in Bendigo, and for those who are uninterested about Elvis Presley, could take the alternative of Maldon. This tour featured recently repainted A66 in V/Line's heritage Tangerine livery.
Another long video again, which seems to be the trend with most of these heritage videos now.
Anyhow, one last extra's video due at the end of this week. Finally one which isn't a heritage video, although, viewers should know what it is, seeing we attempt to upload one every 6 months.
So till next time, catch you down the line.

Thursday 7 July 2022

The Train of Lights Through the Dandenongs | Puffing Billy - Train of Li...

Time for another extra video aye.
Today we have our first of eventually two videos to cover the Puffing Billy Train of Light specials that have ran during the Victorian winter school holidays. This video covers my first attempt of capturing the service on Thursday the 30th of June, accompanied by fellow railfans SonicbusterX2000 and Pannier. Being the first attempt, we were try a few things out to some success and failures. The train itself is a rather spectacle to see steaming through the Dandenongs through the night being hauled by the newest the be restored, NGG16 129.
The second video coverage will be uploaded at a later date when a slot becomes available, with preference within the next 6 months rather than later.

If you anyone is in the area, they are still running the service until the 10th of July, so if you get a chance, head up for a quick look. Tickets sold out rather quickly, but it's still a sight to see.

Anyways, thanks again, until next time, catch you all down the line.

Sunday 3 July 2022

Suburban Parallel Run | Steamrail - Welcome Back Red Rattlers | Taits an...

G'day Everyone,
We are back for our weekly video.
Today we have a video that was only filmed yesterday, Steamrail Victoria's Welcome Back Red Rattlers tour, featuring a mainline parallel run between the Tait and a steam train.
Unlike most of our heritage videos, this video is half a ride and chase video. The first part of the video captures the ride from from trailing unit of the Tait paralleling from North Melbourne Station and Box Hill. After getting off the train at Lilydale we proceed the video like the rest of our heritage videos.
The component of the parallel section is between Camberwell and Canterbury. A full length of the ride portion has been recorded and will be uploaded at some point in the future when scheduling allows.
Very interesting day overall, and congrats to Steamrail for begin able to pull this whole event off.

Enjoy the main video. Still have our extra due at the end of the week. This is the second last extra, then we resume our weekly schedule.

Thursday 30 June 2022

VR Blue & Gold Heads the Southern Aurora | St James Rail's 60 Years of t...

G'day all again,
Second week of our extras is now online.
Another heritage video that had been delayed due to a lack of space in the schedule, but it finally available for viewing. During the Anzac long weekend, St James Rail operated their 60th Anniversary of the Southern Aurora Rail Cruise. Departing Sydney Central during the night of the 23rd, the train travelled along the North East standard gauge mainline to Melbourne with stops at Goulburn to pick up P22, Albury and Violet Town.
The round trip would take 5 days for the passengers on board.
The occasion was also special, with the utilisation of Victorian locomotives S303, T357 and P22 from SRHC's SG fleet.
Another long video, and most likely wont be the last during this holiday season, so sit back and relax as we listen to the roots-blown engine roar to Melbourne.

Until next week, stay safe and stay well.

Sunday 26 June 2022

Double Header Dash to Ballarat | Steamrail - Eureka Express 2022, Train ...

Welcome everyone, time for another video.
Today we are finally publishing at the same time for the main upload for the week again. Today's video is our most recently recorded video, being Steamrail Victoria's second Eureka Express for 2022. Unlike the first one of the year, the train was operated by double blue locomotives, R711 and K183.
Filming of this video was a realisation that the community really isn't what it used to be anymore, with some questionable newer and older generation around, it's rater unfortunate. Anyways, just steaming along with doing the things we enjoy, for now I guess.
Until next time, stay well, and catch you all on Friday.

Thursday 23 June 2022

Heritage Trains Return to the Glen Waverley | Elecrail - Red Rattler Ele...

Welcome back everyone, another video is here. Our first extra for the holiday season. Today's video takes us to the eastern lines, being the Glen Waverley Line for the Red Rattler shuttles. This tour marks the first passenger tour to head down the Glen Waverley since 2013, the last Glen Waverley steam shuttles.
Anyways, hope you all enjoy. Posts here will only be every so often, primarily when the video was published at the time of upload and not scheduled.

Three more extras for this season. No decision yet if it's gong to be extended, although there is quite a lot of extra videos. Been recovering from a cold at the moment as well, so working on the other channels have been some what delayed.
Till next time, stay well, stay safe.

Wednesday 15 June 2022

Glen Waverley Model Railway Exhibition 2022 - Part 2 | Waverley Model Ra...

Well, we're back. Part two of our Waverley Exhibition video is now online. Seems to me that Facebook has broke itself again as links aren't showing up unfortunately... This video covers the last 4 layouts I captured during my time at the exhibition.
Anyways, with this post, time to announce the holiday uploading schedule. From next week, we will be returning to two videos per week, for 4 weeks until the 16th of July.
Well, till next time, catch you all soon.

Sunday 5 June 2022

Ex-NSWGR Railmotors Trek to Victoria | TRMS - Adelaide & Victoria Tri-St...

Howdy all,
Another week, so time for another video. This video was kind of expecting, as it was posted in a previous post. This reminds me, the Southern Aurora video hasn't been uploaded yet. Anyways, today we head out to capture the inaugural TRMS Tri-State Tour with railmotor's 621 & 721. The tour began from Sydney Central, travelling to Adelaide and Melbourne, then looping back to Sydney Central.
This video captures the special train on their trip into Melbourne's Southern Cross Station from their overnight stop in Horsham. Breaking through the morning mist, the train headed east down the Western Standard Gauge Main Line.
This trip is also the first time we've travelled out the Horsham, so that was a different experience, even though we were only out there for around an hour.

It is very likely that we will be beginning the holiday extras earlier than planned, starting from the end of the month instead the beginning of July, however this will be announced on the community page next weekend after the publishing of our next video. So till next time, stay safe and stay well.

Monday 30 May 2022

Steamrail - Ballarat Steam Shuttles 2022 (Ballarat Heritage Weekend) | Y...

Well, apologies for the delay, but today's video is now online.
Today's video we have our views of Steamrail Victoria's Ballarat Heritage Weekend Steam Shuttles.
This year they used locomotives K100 and Y112 on the shuttles, with A2986 as an back up locomotive.
Admittedly this is the 6th year in doing this tour, and locations are starting to be a bit bare, so who knows how much longer I'll continue these.
Anyways, another rather enjoyable day. Till next time. Stay well, catch you all soon.

Sunday 22 May 2022

Daylesford Spa Country Railway - Walker Fest 2022 & Daylesford Open Day

Welcome back everyone. As we continue with the slight unplanned pause on filming, we have another video that had been delayed due to the overload on the schedule. Today's video takes us to Daylesford, where be take a look at the DSCR's Walker Fest 2022, celebrating 40 years of the arrival of the Walkers railmotors arrival to the DSCR. This is our first video to both feature the Walker railmotors and the DSCR, and hopefully wont be the last.
Filming should be resuming from next week, now that more time will become available with the assessments period for Uni coming to an end, so till next time, have a good one!

Sunday 15 May 2022

Trains at the New Hallam Station - Melbourne Trains

Welcome back everyone.
So with a pause on recording at the moment due to other priorities, tie to get through some of the videos waiting in line to be uploaded. Today we have another rather recent video from Hallam Station where the new station has just recently been opened. We head down during the first week to capture trains though the new station.
With the removal of another crossing on the Pakenham line, the countdown is on, with the line almost fully crossing-less.
Anyways, until next time. Take care and catch you down the line.

Sunday 8 May 2022

Steam on the Lilydale Line | Steamrail - Lilydale Suburban Shuttles | K1...

G'day everyone,
Back for another week again, and this video has kind of jumped the queue with all the other heritage videos awaiting to be uploaded. Today we take a look at Steamrail Victoria's Lilydale Suburban Shuttles that operated on the 7th of May. The tour was hauled by K-classes K183 and K190 in push-pull formation. Overall was a pretty good day, where we capture the train at both the new stations and at a few missed locations from last time.
Anyways, that's all for now, we return to videos a little older from next week for a little while.
Until next time, catch you guys down the line.

Sunday 1 May 2022

Red Rattler Shuttles in Dandenong | Steamrail/Elecrail - Tait Electric T...

Welcome everyone,
Back again, now back to our weekly schedule. Videos are now around a week behind their filming date, although videos will be shifted slightly next week.
This weeks video comes from the 23rd of April where we capture the Red Rattlers on their first mainline public trip between Pakenham and Dandenong. This video is setup a little differently, where first half is our standard lineside and stations passing shots and the second half is now moments from the ride from Dandenong to Newport. Just trying out this style to see how people find it, and if we should continue like this in future. There will be a dedicated ride video uploaded in the future when scheduling permits where you can sit back and enjoy the full journey of sounds of the Red Rattler travelling up the skyrail.
In any case, hope everyone has been well, I'll catch you all next week.

Wednesday 27 April 2022

Steamrail - 150th Bendigo Easter Fair (Day Trip) | A2986, N456, S313 & T356

Well, here's the final of the two parters this time round. Technically this video can be watched as a standalone, since the 150th Bendigo Easter Fair tour is its own tour, but it's also linked to the operations of the Bendigo Steam Weekend.
Anyways, a longer video this time, hitting the half an hour mark, sifted down from the 52 minutes originally originally recorded. The final day of operations capture 4 locomotives, and technically was two tours since there were two runs to Melbourne.
Anyways, hope you all enjoy. Back to weekly videos next week, so yeah.
Till next time, stay safe, stay well.

Sunday 24 April 2022

Easter Model Railway Exhibition 2022 - Diamond Creek - Part 2 | Yarra Va...

G'day everyone,

Sunny Bayside Steam | Steamrail - Moorabbin Bayside Shuttles 2022 | A298...

Alrighty, so time for another weekly video, and to be honest, might need to be more than a weekly schedule soon, as the amount of recent videos being side-lined is honestly kinda worrying. But anyways, a little late today since I overslept, but better late than never.
Today we take a look at Steamrail Victoria's Moorabbin Bayside Shuttles that operated on Sunday the 27th of March. This time we had locomotives A2986 and K153... wait no, K100 take charge of the shuttles with K100 on the west end of the train. K153 was recently given the aesthetics of scrapped class leader, K100, for the 100th anniversary of the K class locomotive.
Anyways, he trains shuttled along between Moorabbin Station and Kananok Stabling  Yards. This time, we had a full day of sun.
Well, that's all for this week, until next week, see ya!

In this video we capture the tour at various locations along the short distance of line.

Steamrail - Newport Workshops Open Weekend 2022 - Part 2

Alrighty, kinda a weird time for a second part of a video, but here we go.
Today we have part two of the Open Weekend, hopefully capturing the rest of what's to offer at this year's event.
Continuing from last time, we start off at R761, watching one of her hourly turns. This part, unlike the first, primarily covers the insides of trains and the workshops.
The thumbnail isn't also the final to be used, so it might change over the coming days.

Till next week, catch you all again.

Red Rattler Returns to Service | Steamrail/Elecrail - Taits Relaunch Ser...

Hey everyone,
So a  little bit of a change from the intended videos for this week.
Today's video has jumped the queue, so here we go.
Today's video captures the relaunch run of the heritage Tait train to Essendon and Belgrave, marking the proper return to service. The four main units were the consist of the train, carrying members, volunteers and press for the event.

It was initially planned for today's video to cover the Steamrail Open Weekend, however because of how last minute this video was forwarded in the queue, the two-parter will come out this Thursday and Monday respectively.
Till then, catch you all soon.

QUBE Takes Over the Long Island Steel Train - Victorian Freight Trains

G'day everyone, another weekly video. A little later than planned since waking up hasn't been as easy this time. Today we have the last of the four videos covering the take over of the Victorian steel trains by QUBE logistics from Pacific National. This video captures the training run and first service of the steel service to be operated by QUBE.
Next week, well, we should all know the event, so it has been planned for two videos since it's planned to be a two parter, if that happens, only time will tell.
Till next time, all the best and stay safe.

C Class Leader On Heritage | SRHC - Western Daylight To Ararat | C501 'G...

Hey all,
So time for another weekly video. Now that heritage tours have resumed, it's safe to assume what half of the upcoming videos will be. Last week we resumed our weekly schedule, so with that, today's video covers our views of Seymour Railway Heritage Centre's first tour for 2022, the Western Daylight featuring locomotive C501 on her debut tour with the SRHC. The tour comprised of the standard gauge fleet travelling to Ararat, using the Western Standard Gauge Main Line. C501 was paired with locomotives T357 and P22 to allow for running around and HEP. It really wasn't an easy chase, with the road speed equaling the rail line for most of the way. The video was cut short on the return due to a few issues on my part, and delays the train had caused after braking issues with one of the locomotives.

Anyways, hope you all enjoy, it's not usual we have the pacing part imbedded within the video, so till next time, catch you all.

Sunday 20 February 2022

First Day of Trains at the New Chelsea Station - Melbourne Trains

First week back to weekly videos.
So here we finally conclude the trilogy of video's covering the opening of the new stations at Edithvale, Bonbeach and Chelsea. Today we spend part of the evening peak at Chelsea Station, the middle of the thee stations to be rebuilt.

Alrighty then, till next week, stay well.

Final Days of the Pacific National Wollongong-Melbourne Steel Train | Pa...

G'day everyone. Were back for another video, and contrary to our last post, this is the final holiday extra, as I misread the schedule and the earlier post. Anyways today we take a look at the final few days of operation of Pacific National's WM2/4 steel service for BlueScope Steel, that has since been taken over by QUBE.
This video covers some of the final arrivals in to Melbourne, and still able to capture the small variety of locomotives Pacific National used to offer on the service. Hope you all enjoy.

So back onto the schedule. From here on our we are back to our weekly videos, scheduled for 10:30 AEDT or AEST on Mondays and for any two part videos, the second part will be 11:00 AEDT or AEST Thursdays. Till next time, catch you all.

Sunday 13 February 2022

Steamrail - Otway Explorer 2022 | S313 & N458

Alrighty, welcome. Today we have our video of our attempt at chasing the Otway Explorer, the first tour for 2022. So the chase overall could have gone better, with various road works and timing issues with the train made it a rather tiring first train for the 2022 heritage season. Anyways, this year, locomotives S313 and V/Line's N458 took charge of the train. The chase was initially planned to Winchelsea, with some limitations because of that. Anyways, back to the backlog with the next video, and if I'm not mistaken, two more weeks of our holiday schedule. Till next time, catch you all later.

Sunday 6 February 2022

First Day of Trains at the New Bonbeach Station - Melbourne Trains

We are back to start off another week. I guess you could call this part two of our coverage of the first day of trains at the new stations on the Frankston line. This time we are at Bonbeach Station. The design of the station is pretty much identical to that of Edithvale, with the exception of a whistle board on the north side of the station for down services. We capture various trains through the stations as we approach the peak rush. The final of the three videos, Chelsea, will be uploaded when there is an available slot, since tours will be resuming and our holiday schedule will be coming to an end soon. Till next time, catch you all.

Sunday 30 January 2022

First Day of Trains at the New Edithvale Station - Melbourne Trains

Welcome to another week. Today we have the first of three videos covering the opening of the new stations on the Frankston line, that opened in November 2021. For the first video, we had to Edithvale Station, that recently was rebuilt as part of the LXRA Project. This video captures the runs of 9553 and 9556 on the last 3 days of operations from the 26th to the 28th of January.
So, till next time, catch you all down the line.
